Saskatchewan Roughriders +3 (10 Units)
I am not a huge fan of the CFL but there is money to be made here and it all starts tonight with a re-match of last year's Grey Cup Championship Game (Super Bowl of Canada for those who don't know). Montreal won that game 28-27 on a last second Field Goal down 27-25 with everything on the line so that game could have gone either way and the Roughriders spent the entire off-season contemplating what could have been had they held the Alouettes just one final time but they didn't. The Roughriders were a 9.5 point underdog in that game so they showed that they can definitely hang with the best of the best. You have to go all the way back to 2004 to find the last time Saskatchewan lost a home opener and that was against Calgary. The Riders were a +1.5 in their Home Opener in 2009 and beat the BC Lions 28-24. In 2008 they beat Edmonton 34-13 in their home opener, in 2007 they beat Calgary 49-8 in their home opener, in 2006 they beat the BC Lions 32-24 in their home opener and in 2005 they beat Winnipeg 42-15 in their home opener so you get the drift for them in this spot. Don't get me wrong, Montreal is a good team but asking them to open their title defense on the road against the team they just barely beat in the Championship Game (that is 5-0 in their last five Home Openers as well), is a bit much and losing the first game of the year won't be the end of the world for Montreal. They are 1-4 ATS in their last five games played on CFL Thursday Night Football and Saskatchewan has always been a good bet in the month of July. I'll take the Riders to open this season with a huge win.
